Tyler and His First Deer

Here is Tyler's first deer. We sent him out around 3pm and told him he couldn't eat dinner if he did not bring home a deer. A half hour later he came back with this.
The following week he went on to get two more.
Needless to say, our freezer is full. (If you like that sort of meat.)

Mixed Precipitation!

Here the boys are playing outside today. They don't seem to mind the cold.

I saw a break in the clouds today and a little sun. I ran out with the camera to get a picture as the sun was glistening off the ice in the trees. I was too late, but decided to take the picture anyway.

My mother in law, who lives 4 miles away in town, and I talk back and forth about road and weather conditions there and here. So these picture are for her, who kept telling me nothing was happening yesterday when we had all sorts of precipitation going on all day.

There is ice under the snow. See the tire spin marks at the bottom of the driveway.
It does take skill to get up the driveway when it is like this. This usually only happens about once or twice a year - where it is too difficult to get up the driveway. Hopefully this is not a picture of things to come.

We put water out to the barn about a month ago. Because it is freshly dug up, there is lots of space in the soil. The rain water is just pouring into the basement where the pipe goes into the house. Following the path of the pipe. (We are sump-pumping it out.)
The men had to dig a ditch to re-route the water for the time being.
